Toilet Roll Butterfly Craft

Guidelines: 2-1-1+

Whether it is spring in your part of the world or not you can use this toilet roll craft to inspire your toddler about God’s creation.Remember their little minds are seeing, hearing things for the very first time. Fun stuff is always easier to remember. It helps fuel their imagination for the life ahead.

You will need: empty toilet roll inners, white card, coloured markers, glue, pipe cleaners.

Cut out a pair of wings that are just big enough to fit nicely onto the toilet roll.

Allow your toddler to decorate them with the markers. Now would be a good time to teach your toddler about putting lids back onto the markers so that they don’t dry out.

If you have an older toddler, encourage them without making it an issue to have the same designs on both sides of the wings. Tell them that butterflies have a mirror image on each wing. If you would like to illustrate this point further, get them to look at themselves in the mirror to understand the concept.

Put a thin line of glue down the centre of the wings and stick it to the toilet roll.

Bend the pipe cleaner in half and twist the ends. Glue or staple them to the inside front of the toilet roll.

Cut a small circle for the head of the butterfly and allow your toddler to add the facial features. Glue this onto the outside front of the roll i.e. the opposite side to the wings.
